One Week and Counting

The packing has officially begun, and it's pretty clear I am trying to bring way too much stuff. My goal is to fit everything in a duffel bag and a large backpack. It's going to be close, but I think I am going to have to start picking stuff to leave at home. It's been difficult forcing myself to pack winter clothes in the middle of 90 degree weather, hopefully I will be adequately prepared.
Aside from the packing, I am pretty much set to go. All the bills have been paid, the paperwork submitted, flights booked, visas obtained, classes approved, and much more. When I first started working on pulling this trip together about 6 months ago, I had no idea all the work it would take to get me here. But after all the applications, scholarship essays, and hours spent on the phone working out problems I am finally nearing departure. It has at times seemed that it would never come, and also that the deadlines were coming at a blistering pace. With all that behind me, I am hoping for a smooth trip!
Logan will be arriving by train to Wilmington tomorrow morning; he'll be staying here until we depart on Sunday. Having him here will hopefully help the week pass more quickly. I'm also hoping to spend some time with my local friends before I go. I'm sure between time spent with them and my family, packing, cleaning, and taking care of the other odds and ends that remain, the week will be gone before I can blink.

This time next week, I'll be somewhere over the Pacific Ocean and the toughest task I'll face is choosing what music to listen to. I can't wait!
